Woo! Puppy Bowl Sunday is here! What team are you wooing for this year? All of them?! Puppy Bowl was always a fun day here at #FiveSibes with the TV on, my five having zoomies and snacking on treats with me as we watched the puppies on the TV! The year our furfriend, fellow Husky "Suri" was playing in the game was super special one!
I wore my "Team Suri" T-shirt and my FiveSibes howled their support!
My T-shirt!
On Puppy Bowl Sunday and In honor of our good fur-friend, Little Miss Suri, and her late hu-dad Carl D. Bromberg, I've been able to reproduce my "The Sibe Vibe" podcast on Dog Works Radio (the episode is no longer available on the original recording platform, Blogtalk, as it has since closed), where Carl was my guest on a special Father's Day episode and spoke all about his love of dogs, Huskies, his photography
and rescue work, and of course, all about his girl Suri and their amazing
experience traveling to New York City for the Puppy Bowl X back in 2014!
I also had the pleasure of working with Carl as both his editor and layout & designer on his book about Suri, which was published in January 2024. Carl did the photography, and my dear friend artist Barbara Slocum created the illustrations. You can read that post HERE.
Carl's book on Suri I edited!
FiveSibes as "cheerleaders" during the Puppy Bowl X!
While we certainly miss our friend Carl who sadly passed away in March of 2025, (you can read his memorial post HERE), I know he's up there with all the beauties he adopted over his lifetime smiling down here knowing that Suri is happy and safe and residing with a good friend/neighbor that Carl had hand-picked to become his girl's guardian upon his passing, and that his other dear friend, Mickey, who he asked to continue Suri's page: Little Miss Suri on Facebook.
I will forever cherish that I knew a Puppy Bowl star and the decade-long friendship that followed. I do hope you enjoy the pre-recorded podcast posted above. What an amazing time they had! Suri's legacy as a "surprise puppy" to Siberian Husky Puppy Bowl star will always live on!
Did you have a favorite Puppy Bowl?
We love them all, but Suri in Puppy X will always be #1 on our list!
Here's my FiveSibes Puppy Bowl cheerleaders! (You'll want to turn up the volume for this one!)
I hope you all will enjoy the day with your beloved pets, grab some snacks, and watch the game!

Dewclaws. Such an unnecessary evil for a dog. In August, I noticed Harley limping. At 11-and-a-half, she is a bit stiff-legged at times from arthritis, but this was a more pronounced limp and she was having an extra tough time sitting down. She seemed very uncomfortable. She was also becoming a bit snarley, especially when I was touching her paw, which is something that never typically bothers her. Upon further checking, I noticed an odd lump around her dewclaw on her right leg, thinking it was possibly a pulled dewclaw, maybe a splinter, thistle, or even a bee sting , she became extremely agitated when I touched it. (Warning: some photos may be somewhat graphic, but I am sharing for educational purposes). Oddity beneath the dew claw. Off to the vet we went. At the vet, Harley is protective of her paw by hiding it . Harley's paw was shaved and it uncovered a very large inflamed area surrounding the dewclaw and beyond, as you can see in ...
Original photo by and courtesy of Lisa Byrd; modified by FiveSibes The Rainbow Bridge must be some (p)awesome place to be for it has so many amazing, beautiful angel animals there. My beloved Gibson is there. As is my Chelsey, Sandy, kitty Smokie, bunny Sunny, my fox Ah, many horses, and so many others pets. We have many furfriends who have also crossed The Rainbow Bridge. All of these beloved animals are there...so healthy and happy, with all the dogs enjoying their zoomies and playing Fetch all day in a land that is eternally beautiful. Sounds perfect. Only catch is when our devoted companions are there, we can no longer physically be with them. So while they are in a place where the spirit soars, our hearts are broken as we are missing them here with us. It is a hurt we all as pet parents now way too well. And today, as unbelievable as it seems as I write this, we have to bid a final farewell to another dear furpal, Buddy, the Christmas Husky , who has now earned h...
You most likely have heard the recent news about the "Freedom 46" - the 46 dogs (mainly Cocker Spaniels, plus a few other breeds) the Oldies But Goodies (OBG) Cocker Rescue helped to rescue from a property in Virginia. It just boggles the mind that people can treat animals in this manner...we hear story after story, and in this case, these poor dogs were residing in a "hot barn without anyone to give them proper exercise or keep their water dishes filled. Many were covered with their own feces and urine. OBG worked with Animal Control and with the support of the Virginia Federation of Humane Societies to remove these dogs from that property," states Teresa Butler, the president of the OBG. "The dogs rescued from this property are now safely boarding with veterinarians that work with OBG and will be evaluated by veterinarians over the course of the next week with the goal of moving them into foster homes as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, we do n...
